So, you're interested in competing in an LRAW Snapshot Online Tournament? Joining is Free, Easy, and there's plenty of support to help you along the way. These 5 steps will break down the registration process, to help you join and participate in any online tournament hosted by LRAW Snapshot!
The LRAW Snapshot Discord is the hub for any and all online tournaments hosted by Snapshot. Here is where you'll see Announcements about current and upcoming tournaments, see more Tournament Resources, and organize your online matches!
You'll also need to join the Legions: Realms At War Community Discord if you haven't already. Snapshot tournament matches will be played and completed in the Tourney Table Voice Channels.
Once you've joined the server, make sure to use the Role-Selection channel to be notified of important tournament information, and to be notified when matches are available to spectate!
Registration for a Snapshot Online Tournament is easy, and done online through Challonge. Making an account on Challonge is free and easy, and will allow you to complete matches, report your game scores, and view the current standings for your group and the others. We do ask players to make sure that their Discord username/Server nickname matches with their Challonge account name to make it easy for players to organize matches.
When a Snapshot Tournament is announced, the Challonge link will be available to register for the tournament. You will just need to submit which Warlord you will be playing in the tournament, the email from which you'll be sending in your decklist, and agree to the conditions of the tournament.
During the tournament, you'll be able to find your group and matches on Challonge, and report the results of your matches.
Like any in person tournament, LRAW Snapshot Online Tournaments use a decklist registration system, with players using the exact same decklist throughout the tournament. Players will complete their decklist using any legal format, whether the official FLS Deck Format, or through Legions Toolbox.
Once you've created your decklist, send your decklist to lrawsnapshot@gmail.com. Make sure to include your Discord+Challonge username in the Email.
The tournaments use a "Semi-open" decklist format, where the names of cards in every players decklist will be publicly available to the other competitors in their group. The quantities of cards in decklists will not be publicly available.
Tournament matches will be played over camera between players. A webcam is recommended, but a phone camera positioned over a playmat can also function. To maintain boardstate clarity, whatever camera is used should clearly be able to view the entirety of the zones on an LRAW playmat. This includes:
The Left Side of the board (Veil/Realm, Warlord, Synergy, Guardian)
All 15 Warrior/Unified/Fortified zones
The Deck, Discard Pile, and Eradication Zone
Players are also requested to keep cards within the frame of the camera/webcam as much as possible whenever shuffling the deck, or whenever not playing cards from their hand.
Competing in matches will require players to coordinate with members of their group through the group-x-coordination channel on the LRAW Snapshot Tournament Discord Server. You can "@", or "ping" players in your group who you have yet to complete a match against to organize a time for matches.
Also in their group channel, players will be able to see the Semi-Open Decklists of the other competitors in their group.
Once a match has been organized, players should announce the tournament in the #match-announcement channel to let other players/spectators know that the match is being played. This is especially important for Judges and Tournament Organizers to know when/where matches are occurring.
Once a match has been coordinated, complete the match in one of the TOURNEY TABLE voice channels available on the LRAW Community Discord server.
After completing a match, the winner will report the result on Challonge. Simply go to your groups section, head to the "Matches" tab, and find the equivalent match. The round numbers provided by Challonge do not matter. You may complete your matches in any order.
Although ran through Online Webcam play, players are expected to compete and act the same as they would in a physical tournament setting. Section 9 of the LRAW Rulebook is in effect, and Tournament Standards are expected to be maintained throughout competition. This includes both in discord communication channels, and during matches over webcam gameplay.
Judges will be able to issue the same penalties as during physical play tournaments, including Game Warnings, Game Losses, Match Losses, and Disqualifications. Judges competing in the tournament will be able to make judge calls, but cannot make judge calls for matches in their own group.
As described in step 4, players are expected to maintain board clarity, and competitive integrity during their gameplay matches.
If you're uncertain about any part of the tournament registration/competition, the #tournament-resources channel has a variety of information to support players in the registration and competition process. If there's anything still confusing, feel free to message any @Tournament Organizer on the LRAW Snapshot Tournament Discord Server to get help with the process.
The LRAW Snapshot Tournament rules can be found here! These rules break down in more detail the competition process, and it's recommended for any player to read through the rules before competing.
