With Elder Legends: Providence close on the way, let's explore the final tuning changes to the meta to slow down some top competitors, and to prepare for new additions coming in ELP.
While the previous SRL window passed without changes, this one has an impact on 7/9 legions.
Gaia, Mal'ady, and Onoskelis have been powerful competitors throughout the GCD meta, while on the other side of things, Grimm, Fandos, Orcbane, and Dragons are shaping up to be incredibly impactful with new additions to shore up weaknesses and create new strengths.
Lastly, a few cards which haven't proven problematic are coming back, including one which may be incredibly appealing with some new additions in ELP.
with Mal'ady's breakout performance, she's seen a couple of tuning hits in preparation of the upcoming Rally The Realms tournament.
Mal'ady's Horrific Harvest
As both a removal tool on eradication, and a retrieval tool on play, Horrific Harvest has been a strong flexible inclusion in Mal'ady, and the hit should tune down Mal'ady's ability to build back her own board, and tear down her opponent's.
Fallen Fervor
This change should tune down a little bit of the draw power seen in Onoskelis's Fallen Engine, after seeing success at the 2024 RTR tournament.
Quake, The Unstoppable Terra Stone
This change likely signals less of a goal of heavily tuning down Gaia's power, and rather breaking up single-card Warrior death loops, in contrast with Multi-Warrior loops seen with Esmerelda + Prysm.
Unstoppable Titan War Smash
A more notable hit to the Unstoppable Archetype, Unstoppable Titan War Smash has consistently been a strong starter for Gaia, able to make incredibly effective use of Warriors like Jasmine, The Unstoppable Water Beauty. This change should help to tune down the ability for Gaia to quickly and consistently accumulate cards.
With a variety of new cards for existing archetypes, it makes sense to see some existing more polarizing cards be tuned down to promote more back-and-forth gameplay.
Welcome To The Grimm Graveyard
With more consistent removal pieces being added to Grimm Midrange in Grimm Skeleton Key, and Graveyard Of The Doomdrake, it's understandable to see Welcome To The Grimm Graveyard being brought back to zero to eliminate non-games on either side of the field.
Thornhaven's Fandorian Falls
An incredibly strong Keyword hate card, with Fandorian Chieftain, Fuljama coming out in ELP it's not too surprising to see Fando Falls tuned down to avoid being able to repeatedly be retrieved, or to repeatedly revive the new Chieftain.
Sildud's Call Of The Orcbane
One of the long lasting powerhouses of Sharn's draw engine, this hit isn't too surprising with new additions coming out to support the Orcbane aggro archetype. In contrast to Sharn Boars Aggro, a list running more Orcbane tools will find even more value with a variety of tutor-targets.
Dragon Dangerclaw
With Dragons on the rise, a hit isn't unexpected, and Dragon Dangerclaw is a notably strong piece for being able to break up Fortified cards on your opponent's first turn when used with Lady Darksky, The Dusk Dawn Dragon.
Last but not least, a few other notable decks are getting some cards reduced, or taken off of the SRL list
Necro Gallows Of Everworld
Necro Gallows is and has been a strong way for any Undead deck to tutor out important Undead Fortified cards. With other changes to both Undead archetypes tuning down some more polarizing cards, it makes sense to give a slight buff here.
Feathers In The Wind
I'm getting a bit of deja-vu here, but I'm happy to see Feathers going up a copy, rather than down. While Mythical Beasts have remained strong, Sh'Lara has only appeared intermittently in competitive play, and Merrisod hasn't been reliant on Feathers for any of it's big draw plays.
Majik Mask - Three Eye Dark
A nice new return to go along with the two new Majik Mask Exalted cards in ELP, Three Eye Dark is a sweet burn finisher that's been tried out in a variety of control decks, but hasn't been quite as popular or necessary with newer tools added.
Replenishing Falls
Previously put to 1 to avoid abuse in more aggressive decks, Replenishing Falls has seen next to no play in notable decks, including faster archetypes at the moment.
