PRE RTR Checklist
With the Rally The Realms Tournament firing up with decklist submission due tomorrow, here's a quick catchup on some updates to the LRAWSnapshot Tierlist, the SRL list, and the latest Campaign Promos to watch out for!
Tier List Update
With several GCD tournaments complete and the impending Rally The Realms tournament, a Tierlist update was in order, and I wanted to take the opportunity to dive into a bit of my decision making process with the tierlist, and the ranking of decks.
Whilst larger TCGs have access to a plethora of format data to objectively define and place decks on win rates, and performance against other meta competitors, it takes a significant amount of data to do so accurately. Without the major aid of pure mathematical comparisons, there are two main factors that I take into consideration when building and reordering the tierlist - "Performance", and "Potential".
Performance is the most preferable category of analysis, focusing on a few main questions:
How often is this deck appearing in tournaments?
when this deck does appear, where does it place?
Whilst the second question is the most important in terms of raw power, just consistent appearance is an important metagame factor.
Michael Sanctify Control is one example of a deck with strong performance, which has contributed to it's strong metagame positions. Michael has consistently appeared in recent tournaments, and whenever it does it's a deck that frequently turns those appearances into top 8 placements, with notable top 4 appearances as well.
Whilst Michael has yet to move further than top 4 in a post GCD tournament, it has consistently been well within reach of those top spots, and players should be prepared to face against it both during the main stage of the tournament, and in the top 8.
Whilst consistent performance is the most ideal metric of success, there are a selection of decks in the meta which don't have a huge number of trophies to their names, but are still incredibly powerful decks.
This analysis plays off of two factors, non-tournament matches, as well as theory building, and metagame comparisons.
The speculative GCD tier list was heavily built on Potential, by necessity of the fact that this emerging meta had yet to be defined. Through tournament placements, most of these potential placements have been justified by performance, including Mal'ady, Gaia, and Ethelhime in S-Tier.
Ethelhime specifically is a list which has had consistently strong power, and strong performance outside of tournament, as well as being specifically effective into both Gaia and Ethelheim. Although her placement has now been justified additionally by performance, her initial placement is still a result of potential and metagame theorizing.
Whilst there are many more decisions going into each placement on the tierlist, performance and potential are two key informing factors, that have helped to build this updated tierlist.

Recent Campaign Promos
These new Campaign promos have released between August and September, and offer a wide selection of interesting sideboard choices to play, and to prepare to play against.
Stifle Progress is a hate piece against Counters, making it a great option to deal with Angels and Ethelhime Alehouse Storm. The anti-reveal effect in discard lets you double dip the hate, as another relevant ability against Ethelhime!
Ariyus, The Soulbound Warlock is a great piece to deal with any form of effect damage, but especially against huge bursts of damage from Castiel and Adramelech!
Close The Casket is an incredibly flexible negate against anything and everything that activates in discard or eradication, making it an especially useful tool against the powerhouses of Mal'ady and Gaia!
Important also to note is that the latest Campaign promos, Ignorance Is Bliss and Walk Of Fame, are NOT legal for tournament play in the Rally The Realms Tournament.
