For your left side, obviously, you gotta start with Sharn, The Orcbane Bloodmaiden, or the rest of this is kinda pointless.
For your veil you have two options: Veil Of Rancour, or Veil Of Advancement, giving your board plus 2 attack, or making 2 scorpions. Typically going into your veil, your opponent will make sure you don't have warriors, so the scorpions may be a bit better, but its definitely a personal choice.
For this build, you run Outer Rim, Trial-Grounds Of Blood. Several cards in the deck can only be played with this synergy, and it's one of your easiest ways to set up a kill.
For the guardian you really have 2 choices, Serenasada, The Secret Soothsayer or Gnabandok, Blood Magic Envoy. Serena is a solid choice no matter what, And Gnabandok is very strong going second, as he lets you start your turn with a card in your discard, 2 extra cards in your hand, and your devotion on the field. Whichever one you pick, I highly suggest putting the other one in your side board.
So you’re starting the game, you’ve drawn your hand, and you’re wondering if its good. Well first things first, do you have a Reservoirs Of Revival Ooze or a Sildud’s Call Of The Orcbane? If yes, then you'll most likely want to keep that hand. If not, you have a few considerations. If you are playing Serena, do you have other key cards you want to keep? If yes, then it can be worth it to keep that and use Serena's After Mulligan ability to dig for your engine pieces. If not, hard mulligan and reevaluate. If you have Gnabandok, you are probably going to want to hard mulligan if you don’t have either of the mentioned cards, since Gnabandok can't consistently help you find them.
The Deck is running 13 warriors, each with a specific purpose.
We'll start with Mogak and Lambug, both starter deck characters and functioning as the bread and butter of this deck. Mogak draws you a card, Lambug gets one back from discard.
Next up, lets talk about Dyadaz, she's a phenomenal swift blocker, that makes two more blockers when she dies at a basic level. She's also a great target for Outer Rim Exclusion Zone, a card we’ll talk about later, to create more boars to squeeze out lots of early damage.
Next is Zavic and Gulvic. Both fill similar roles, Gulvic has shockwave on play, and destroys any warrior on death, and Zavic destroys a face up card on your opponents field. Notably, Zavic also has retaliate, which can be occasionally useful.
Finally there's the big boy, Zelfor’Tork, The Fatal Frenzy. He has 3 abilities, the first of which lets you destroy two Orcbane warriors and draw 2 cards when he enters the field, and his Perish lets him destroy any two cards on your opponents side of the field. He also has rampage to squeeze out even more damage.
Sharn has 3 main engine pieces, which are all key for cycling through your deck, and fueling your discard pile, giving Sharn the consistency she's known for.
Reservoirs Of Revival Ooze
On play, Reservoirs Of Revival Ooze lets you search your deck for any three warriors and send them to your discard pile, (not activating any perishes), then drawing you a card.
The once per turn ability lets you pay 3 life, and revive any orc warrior with 2 or less attack from your discard pile to the field. This lets you amass more warriors on the field to feed Zelfor'Tork, do damage, or be defensive.
Importantly, the revival works with any Orc Warrior, regardless of Archetype, especially key for Zelfor'Tork.
Sildud's Call Of The Orcbane
This card makes you pay 4 life, search your deck for any 3 Orcbane cards, then discard 2 cards.
Typically a play with this is to grab 2 Pride Of The Orcbane, and then 1 other Orcbane card you need. If you have one of your prides in your hand already, you can search more cards, and discard the prides anyway.
Pride is the primary discard target because when it gets discarded you draw a card, another good discard target is For The Love Of Carnage which lets you destroy a card at the end of an opponents turn, however you can't search for Carnage as it's not Orcbane.
Zelfor'Tork's Orcbane Feeding Frenzy
On play this card lets you discard 1 Orc warrior to draw a card, feeding into your ooze.
The once per turn activation lets you eradicate any Orcbane card from discard to draw another card. Good targets for this include Sildud’s Call, Ulumpha’s Battlecry, and if absolutely necessary, an Orcbane warrior.
The on-destruction ability is also very relevant, letting you cantrip off of Outer Rim Exclusion Zone's destruction ability.
So, we got plenty of play lines, a handful of warriors, but how do we kill people? Boars is the answer. Boars can be manifested by several means, firstly when Dyadaz dies she makes up to 2 boars. Secondly Outer Rim Exclusion Zone's once per turn, destroys a card on your side of the field and makes up to 2 boars. Finally, your synergy, it destroys up to 2 fortified cards and makes up to 5 boars.
OK, so now we have boars, what do we do with them? Well, they have rampage, which deals damage to an opponents warlord equal to the difference in the two warriors attack, so basically if you have higher attack, you deal damage to the warlord. So how do we make the boars bigger? Well firstly Exclusion Zone, that card that makes boars, also gives all warriors with rampage +3 attack. Secondly, Temple of Duskzog gives all your Boars plus attack equal to the number of warriors in your discard pile. Finally, you can toss a Slugoth's Legendary Blood-Axe on a boar for another plus eight.
So your boars are chunky and you've dealt your damage. Most of the time, your opponent is dead now, but what happens if they aren't? Sometimes, you gotta just pass here. If you are running Gnabandok, however, you can activate his ability to sacrifice up to 5 warriors, dealing 3 damage per warrior sacrificed, and freeing up your board for some more warriors. If you are gonna need to Gnabandok, make sure you activate Sharn’s special ability before you make boars, because her ability needs an Orcbane or outer rim warrior on the field to target.
If you make boards and want to shoot some more damage, Ancient Relic - Sword Of Sacrifice is a great option, gives 10 more attack, especially useful with rampage. Additionally you can sacrifice three warriors, and double the attack of the warrior with sword of sacrifice. Just make sure you attack with the warriors you plan to sacrifice first.
Welcome To Alburdunn, Seal Their Fate, and Dismantle are self explanatory, as powerful interactive and protective pieces.
Secret Savannah is an interesting tech piece, that lets you free up space in your warrior slots, and find any of your Bounty Fortified cards, for whatever purpose you need.
Unconscious Devotion is a free card if you are playing Gnabandok, and ticks up over time. Firstly adds one attack to all orc warriors, which is a nice stability piece, and works nicely with rampage, however its universal if you are playing against another orc player, they also get the buff. The second stage increases your effect damage by two, usually this is the least useful part of the devotion, but if you use Gnabandok's Consume Ability or Blood Majik Blight, you can get a bit of extra damage. The final stage doubles all of your opponents bloodbourne for the turn, which slows your opponents veil flip turn considerable, and lets you either catch up, or survive until your turn to kill them.
So, it’s your opponents turn, what can you do? Not to worry, you have plenty of options. Lets start with the bounty generics, The Twilight Gardens and Majik Void Hollow are both super solid cards that can be played in any deck. Mists From The Fata Morgana recycles cards back into your deck, and saves your life, especially important since your DCM is only 65.
Next up is Gone But Never Forgotten, which lets you revive any warrior, giving them shockwave and wisdom. Good targets for Gone include Mogak to draw tons of cards and destroy a warrior, or Zelfor’Tork to shockwave himself to blow up more of your opponent's board.
Finally we have Majik Void Typhoon, which shuffles both players discards and eradication piles into their decks, and then both players draw two cards. Now, with all the work we do to fill our discards, why would we want to do that? Simply to do it all again, get more resources back, or if you go too hard the first few turns and gas out, this turns the gas back on.
What about our Orc Fortified cards? Firstly we have Pride Of The Orcbane and For The Love Of Carnage. These are both usually discarded and not played face down, and both have an in-discard effect you can activate at the end of an opponents turn. For The love Of Carnage destroys any card on the field, and Pride Of The Orcbane lets you find an Orcbane warrior in your deck and put them into play on your side of the field.
Next up, if Duxvox’s Doomdrill. Now I know what your thinking, but this is Sharn not Duxvox, what's up with that? The card is simply that good as a negate that only costs consume, and can be played from your hand. Now add in the fact that as cost it increases your opponents warlord special ability cool down? Easily has a slot in any orc deck.
Finally, we got Pits Of The Outer Rim, which may be the strongest Fortified you have. The prerequisite for this card is having an Orcbane or Outer Rim Warrior on the board, and when you play it, you must send the top 6 cards of your deck to your discard pile. The effect is to destroy 4 cards on the field. Any 4 cards. You opponent has a back line going into your turn? Not any more.
So, what’s going on with that sideboard? Firstly, whichever of the 2 guardians isn’t in your main board.
Pillage Their Village is a very niche card that firstly fills your discard pile, and secondly taxes your opponent, especially against a deck that struggles to get things from the discard.
Orcbane Potion Of Exhuming is simply another chance to potion for decks that tax your deck too harshly.
Sildud's Blood Majik Blight is a very funny card, typically I would side it into a deck that has a lot of bloodborne costs, and you can definitely flip cheeky kills if your opponent goes too hard.
Gluronk’s Spite Of The Orcbane is sided into decks that have a ton of destruction effects build in, and just adds another layer of protection to your board.
Ancient Relic - Sword Of Sacrifice is a strong replacement for your devotion if you are main boarding Serenasada, or if you side her in. It gives your guy more attack for rampage, and if needed doubles a Warrior's attack while clearing more warrior space up.
Finally we have Concrete Catacombs, Close the Gateway, and Provoke New Thoughts. Catacombs gets sided in against decks that want to eradicate a ton, Close The Gateway gets sided in against decks that make heavy use of discard or eradication mill, and Provoke New Thoughts get sided into decks that discard cards.
While Sharn is definitely a top tier competitive deck, not every match up is gonna be amazing. Some good match-ups for her are definitely Sh’Lara, Mortis, and Merrisod. In Sh’Lara matches, you’re just too fast, and she cant keep up with you, generally the same goes for Merrisod. For Mortis, one of his greatest strengths is having an infinite warrior loop, preventing battle damage, but your effect damage of Rampage just doesn't care about the loop.
Some of the worst match-ups for Sharn are Onoskelis, Mal’ady, and Gaia. Onoskelis simply slows you down far too much, and you can't out resource her. Mal’ady doesn’t let you keep warriors on the board long enough to get value from them. Gaia gives everything blockade, so when you make your boars to kill, you have to wait a turn. None of these match ups are at all unwinnable, but are generally more of an uphill battle.
