With the previous SRL list update, and the release of Guardians' Creed, the meta has stayed in a healthy place, with a large variety of archetypes and decks, and especially new decks, all having the chance to fight and compete within the metagame.
As such, it makes sense to see a smaller SRL list, focusing on tuning the meta and adjusting some breakout new strategies rather than making sweeping changes. It'll be exciting to see how the meta continues to develop and evolve.
This list trims the top off some of the best lists post-GCD, and helps to adjust some player-favourite lists into the new metagame.
A few decks have popped into the to ranks of the Meta from the release of GCD, and whilst the overall meta is currently incredibly healthy, it doesn't hurt to see some adjustments to see the top rising decks kept in check.
Exit The Alehouse
The Alehouse archetype continues to have pieces chipped off, reigning in the outliers of this lurking competitive archetype. Exit The Alehouse is one of the strongest fortified negates available, triggering your on-reveal effects, and shuffling back the target, interrupting recursive abilities.
Whilst Exit is one of the few defensive pieces available for Ethel, the list has proven to have a strong enough aggressive plan, that a hit to Exit shouldn't be too punishing, whilst helping to alleviate feel-bad moments, and complete blowout wins against it's backline clearing in-discard ability.
That Unstoppable Feeling
Whilst this card has only popped up very recently, it's an unsurprising hit as a massive heal card in the same vein as Castiel's Alchemic Bloodbond. Compared to Bloodbond, That Unstoppable Feeling is significantly easier to find, enable, and loop. This hit does little to limit Gaia's power, but eliminates one outlier play-pattern linked to undesirable play-patterns.
Jasmine, The Unstoppable Water Beauty
One card much more linked with Gaia's strong card advantage engine however is Jasmine, The Unstoppable Water Beauty. Jasmine's perish ability can be recurred and reused with Unstoppable Titan War Smash and Gaia's Unstoppable Presence, and Jasmine herself can be tutored at the start of the game by Erebus. With this hit to 2, Gaia will still be able to generate tons of card advantage, but wont be able to get 3 Jasmine perish abilities with Erebus & War Smash right off the bat.
With a few cards added to the SRL list, we also have one card completely removed from the SRL list, and another moving out of suspended
Cerebral, The Bound Seraphim Mind
Whilst Michael is in a strong place at the moment, and not necessarily a contender needing a buff, I don't believe that Cerebral returning to 3 makes a significant difference for the list.
Whilst Cerebral is one of the strongest Warriors available for the Seraphim/Sanctify archetypes, he does have diminishing returns in multiple copies. One single copy is all you need to delay/lock out keyword abilities or special abilities from your opponent.
Whilst the change isn't particularly impactful in one way or another, it is nice to see cards be fully removed from the SRL list when it is safe to do so.
Welcome To The Grimm Graveyard
One significantly more interesting return, Welcome To The Grimm Graveyard has been brought to Restricted from Suspended, bringing back 1 copy of this card for Undead decks.
When this card was initially hit, play pattern concerns were part of the equation, with Undead players often being able to rip their opponent's hands down to nothing early. At a single copy, Undead players have access to a powerful enabler/disruption piece, which will require significantly more effort/investment to recur & reuse with Sir Grimm Crimson.
Whilst this card will be immediately returning for Mortis, it'll be interesting to see if the card sees inclusion in the blossoming Mal'ady Garden Stax archetype.
