November 23rd an update released for the SRL list, 2 days prior to the Nerdz Cafe Siege Series. This change tuned down the over performing Onoskelis Fallen Control lists, and provided a significant change in knocking the ever present staple Mists From The Fata Morgana down to 2 copies.
Mists From The Fata Morgana
Previously ran at a full playset in a significant number of competitive lists, Mists From The Fata Morgana has been moved to two copies. This change may significantly adjust the meta, and make Alburdunn's Mayoral Announcement a much more appealing mist option. Decks that are currently running Serenasada, The Secret Soothsayer and aren't too heavily reliant on consume may want to at least consider trying out Viviana, The Festival Royalty for synergy with Alburdunn's Mayoral Announcement and Welcome to Alburdunn. Ultimately this change is a slight boon to various aggressive strategies with the total number of mists in the game being reduced. Decks like Sharn boars may be able to punish decks that aren't able to find both Welcome and Announcement and may remain vulnerable to either effect or battle damage.
Cerebral, The Bound Seraphim Mind
Cerebral, The Bound Seraphim Mind was a powerful keyword hate-piece released in Empires On The Rise. Whilst Michael hasn't put up significant results post Empires, and I would argue that Cerebral is not a specific power outlier, Cerebral has been noted as a card with feel-bad moments, and has been adjusted for play experience. This change will likely not hit Michael too hard, as Cerebral can still be tutored for with Help From The Chaos Divine, and typically only one copy is needed for locking out or delaying cooldown abilities, but on average it will now show up less frequently, and less early.
Fallen Inferno
Fallen Inferno joins the suspended list as one of only 5 non veil-pierce cards to be fully suspended, and the first Demon card to make the list. Drawing and discarding 3 cards gave Fallen control lists a huge amount of card selection, and usually card advantage in conjunction with cards like The Deeper We've Fallen or Fallen Brimstone Sky. Previously limited to 1 copy, Inferno could still be tutored by Advance Of The Fallen Armies and Volrac's Documents Of The Damned, and Onoskelis is fantastic at digging through cards, making it accessible when needed with a reasonable degree of consistency. As the most powerful dig tool in Onoskelis' toolbox this suspension is a heavy blow to one of the most powerful aspect of the deck, but far from a death knell as the deck still has a plethora of tools for churning through with card selection and card advantage.
Fallen Fervor
Back to restricted, Fallen Fervor was moved to Limited before the October 21 Booster House Siege Series and it's short lived vacation has ended with it being hit alongside Fallen Inferno. These nerfs should ideally tune down the Onoskelis control list and limit its access to early card advantage and selection. Onoskelis still has it's strong control tools such as Rapture On Mount Bane, and Treasury Of The Fallen Priestess, but the highs of the deck should be appropriately weakened by these two nerfs to bring it closer in line with the rest of the meta-game.
