With the previous SRL list update, and the release of Guardians' Creed, the meta has stayed in a healthy place, with a large variety of archetypes and decks, and especially new decks, all having the chance to fight and compete within the metagame.
As such, it makes sense to see a smaller SRL list, focusing on tuning the meta and adjusting some breakout new strategies rather than making sweeping changes. It'll be exciting to see how the meta continues to develop and evolve.
This list trims the top off some of the best lists post-GCD, and helps to adjust some player-favourite lists into the new metagame.
A few decks have popped into the to ranks of the Meta from the release of GCD, and whilst the overall meta is currently incredibly healthy, it doesn't hurt to see some adjustments to see the top rising decks kept in check.
Putrid Infestation
A deck that recently saw a venture from the bottom of the Tierlist to the top thanks to strong new tools from GCD giving the deck a facelift, Mal'ady has seen a surge in power and isn't an unexpected addition to the SRL list. Putrid Infestation is a difficult to deal with tutor, that offers Mal'ady a ton of early game consistency and late game power. The deck still bears a lot of consistency through Putrid Infestation Sentinel, Horrix and Putrid Eruption Bloom, and will remain a powerful controlling list, but with a degree of less explosive power.
Unstoppable Storm Surge
A Repeatable Negate that truly is Unstoppable, Storm Surge is one of the many powerful control pieces available for Gaia, which has become a much more relevant deck as of late, with much more proactive play out of Guardians' Creed. Although the Bloodbourne 10 cost of Unstoppable Storm Surge is restrictive, and this change isn't too brutal for the deck, it makes sense to rein in Gaia's reactive pieces as she steps into a much more relevant metagame position.
Alehouse Drink - Moonshine
The second Alehouse Drink to see an SRL hit, Moonshine is a powerful engine & kill piece for Ethelhime. In the early game, Moonshine + Skoal makes for some efficient card advantage generation, and in the late game it threatens a ton of kill power. This change shouldn't tune down Ethelhime's kill power, but will tax how quickly and often the deck can steamroll out of hand.
The Hood Become The Resistance
A key part of Sapphire Storm, The Hood Become The Resistance is an important piece in the deck for 2 reasons. For 1, it's one of the three pieces for the decks draw engine, alongside March Of The Resistance and the titular Sapphire Amulet. Additionally, it's your main win-condition for the deck, letting you tutor copies of Ancient Relic - Sword Of Sacrifice and other Ancient Relics to the bin, and using Hood Becomes to retrieve them. This change isn't likely to be too heavy, but rather just an adjustment to an emerging archetype with powerful future potential.
Past the nerfs, a few other decks have had tools brought back to help keep them in a competitive and healthy space.
Paymon's Ceremony Of The Fallen
Demons were hit hard prior to GCD to rein in their longstanding competitive power, but with a tame performance past Creed's release we're seeing some of the checks and balances loosened slightly to give the two Warlords more breathing room.
Paymon's Ceremony Of The Fallen gives Onoskelis back some control power through healing and stealing, and helps return some of the consistency lost in her discard engine.
Black Magic Insanity
A powerful but risky control tool for Adramelech, which couples incredibly well with his Special Ability, Black Magic Insanity's full return is understandable in combination with the hit to the deck's ability to consistently fill up both player's eradication zones.
This change shouldn't drastically affect Adramelech's position, but it helps to loosen the restrictions on a deck which has proven to be much more docile than previous iterations.
Lost Messiah Corrupt-Sword, Freelia
An unassuming Common Warrior, Freelia is one of the most notable current pieces for Castiel, with the Veil Of Condemnation offering the ability to blow up 2 cards out of nowhere. With this reduction to 2 copies, the interaction-killing potential of Castiel becomes notably weakened, and the deck will be more reliant on prior setup leading into it's Veil Flip turn, rather than leaning completely into the consistent kill with unstoppable protection.
Castiel's Alchemic Bloodbond
Guardian's Creed did a fantastic job of powering up some under leveled decks, and offering some great new tools for the rest of the meta. The only card so far to jump out as problematic itself however, is Castiel's Alchemic Bloodbond. Whilst the on play ability is tame enough, as a parallel to Michael's Proclamation, the Eradication ability offers ultimately too much healing, especially alongside Unrelenting Devotion releasing in the same set. At a single copy, it'll be much more rare to use the Card's immense healing potential, and activating it will become a powerful option for the right boardstate and setup, rather than a guaranteed DCM surge in a game.
Chaos Divine Reconnaissance
Back up to 2 copies, the Rules change to Chaos Divine Reconnaissance makes it a more fair card advantage engine, only drawing 1 card when multiple Angel Warriors are conscripted by the same card effect, (i.e. through Help From The Chaos Divine).
With the reduction to Lost Messiah Corrupt-Sword, Freelia, Castiel will now have more draw power in the early and mid-game, but less consistency for punching through backlines, making the deck significantly less swingy, and reliant on Seraphim archetypal pieces for card draw. As for Michael, whilst the Sanctify builds have seen success, Michael's Unified slots remain ever-taxed, and the deck has yet to push into problematic territory.
Haunted Labyrinth
Previously a tyrant in the top of the tierlist, Mortis has taken some notable SRL hits in the past few months with SRL hits to Welcome To The Grimm Graveyard, and Spores From The Suffering Cyprus. Guardian's Creed has also not been a particularly kind set to Mortis, with new stax and interactive tools being brutal obstacles to Mortis's combo-mill game plan.
Haunted Labyrinth returning helps to offer up more consistency to the Grimm Shadowhand, and pairs nicely with the new Amethyst Amulet.
