We've caught up on the Majik Mask support, and followed the moves of the new Majik Moonlight Dances, so let's get freaky, with the 5 new Campaign cards for the Freakshow archetype!
Unified
If your Bounty Warlord is "Jolo, Ringleader Of The Freakshow" gain the following effect twice:
Search your deck for 1 "Freakshow" Warrior, and Conscript the searched Warrior to your side of the field.
You can only activate 1 "Ticket To The Freakshow" per turn.
Unified - ACT
This card is also treated as a "Freakshow" card while face-up on the field.
Once per turn: you can destroy 1 "Freakshow" Bounty Warrior on your side of the field and target 1 "Freakshow" Bounty Warrior in your discard pile with a different name. Revive the targeted Warrior to your side of the field.
If this card is destroyed, you can search your deck for up to 2 "Freakshow" Bounty Warriors, and Conscript the searched Warriors to your side of the field.
You can only control 1 face-up "Alburdunn's Tent Of Curiosities" per turn.
Ticket To The Freakshow and Alburdunn's Tent Of Curiosities make up the "glue" of the Freakshow archetype, with Ticket To The Freakshow being an easy way to setup any of your Freakshow Warriors, and Alburdunn's Tent Of Curiosities acting as the Freakshow's very own Windmill Of Corpses.
Ticket To The Freakshow offers a hint towards the future for the archetype, mentioning the future Freakshow Warlord, "Jolo, Ringleader Of The Freakshow". What he does and when we'll see him remains unknown, but it's always neat to see a glimpse into what's to come.
Warrior - Atk: 1
(Charisma) - (When this Warrior enters play, the controlling player can pay (Bloodbourne 5); Conscript a Warrior from their hand to their side of the field.)
(Perish) - "Search your deck for 1 "Freakshow" Warrior (not named "Freakshow Fish-Man Bardo"), and Conscript the searched Warrior to your side of the field."
Warrior - Atk: 1
(Reflect) - (As long as this Warrior is face-up on the field you can double all Keyword Abililties of other "Freakshow" Warriors.)
(Perish) - "You can activate the (Perish) effect of another "Freakshow" Bounty Warrior (not named "Freakshow Mirror-Face, Doppleleta") in your discard pile as if this (Perish) effect was theirs."
Warrior - Atk: 1
(Incinerate) - (When this Warrior deals damage to another Warrior; send both Warriors to the discard pile.)
(Perish) - "You can shuffle up to 2 "Freakshow" cards from your discard pile, back into your deck, then if you do draw up to the same amount of cards that you shuffled back with this effect."
The Freakshow's resident Fish-Man helps to get his freaky friends onto the battlefield, with both Charisma bringing in Warriors from hand, and his Perish ability grabbing any Freakshow Warrior from deck.
Freakshow Mirror-Face, Doppleleta gives you a bit more mileage out of your Freakshow Warriors, doubling up on all of their Keyword abilities for extra value. Her Perish copying any other Freakshow Perish is also a potentially strong advantage piece with Freakshow Fish-Man, Bardo, or our last new warrior, Freakshow Shriek-Scare, Rosey.
Rosey's Perish ability lets you shuffle back 2 "Freakshow" cards, to draw up to 2, giving you a way to generate plenty of card advantage, especially powerful with Doppleleta amping up the draw.
These new additions will be joining Hugo, The Hulking Freakshow, Alburdunn's Big Top Circus, and an earlier Campaign promo, Become A Showman, in the Freakshow Archetype. Those 3 cards already offered a Win-Condition for the Archetype, meaning the deck now has both some interesting starters and engine pieces, as well as a unique win-condition. Whether the list will be able to put up any sort of meaningful competitive results will need to be seen, but there are some appealing other build around Bounty archetypes like the Brackus pieces, and the new pieces of the Majik Moonlight dances, which could go hand-in-hand to give a Freakshow deck the ability to churn through it's Warrior engine into an explosive finale!
Being a Bounty Archetype means the Freakshow can currently be hosted in any Realm, and by any Warlord. With no current locks to any Warlord, there are a few potential options. Sh'Lara, The Mystic Fire Phoenix has one of the strongest ability lists of any Warlord, especially with 80 DCM and her board smashing Magical Attack, plus some of the powerful generic control pieces available to the Mythical Beasts could prove appealing. Alero, The King Of Kingdoms is another interesting choice, thanks again to generic legion options like Anti-Magic Resistance Force, but especially thanks to the Beacon Of Hope as one of the strongest synergies in the game.
The best Warlord may however be the most obvious, with Marianas, The Corsair Of Despair offering the most direct Bounty support. Whilst the Freakshow archetype doesn't directly synergize with the Ancient Relics, an already scary Ancient Relic - Sword Of Sacrifice does become even scarier when coupled with additional attacks from Alburdunn's Big Top Circus or Become A Showman, and the powerful Perish effects from the new Freakshow Warriors.
Overall, the new Freakshow options show some love to brewers, and fans of the original pieces from Bountiful Harvest, expanding the archetype with more exciting options to build and brew around.
